SUMMARY:Anne Buckle & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Heritage Hall Theatre on June 12 at 7:00 PM for a special benefit concert by Anne Buckle & Friends to benefit the Johnson County Community Foundation!\n\n\n\nBIO\nRecently named to UT Knoxville’s Vol 40 Under 40 list\, Anne Buckle is a Nashville-based singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist with songs streamed millions of times. A descendent of the Carter family and a cousin of June Carter Cash\, Anne has been called “a refreshing take on a legendary family” by the Nashville Music Guide. Anne is originally from Peachtree City\, Georgia\, but her roots run deep in Mountain City. Her mom is Debbie Cornett\, and as a teacher at Johnson County High School in the ’70s\, met her dad Chuck Buckle\, who was also teaching at the school while earning his degree from Appalachian State. If it weren’t for this fateful meeting in Mountain City\, Anne wouldn’t be here. She spent her childhood summers and Christmas breaks in these hallowed hills learning to play music with her aunts and uncles and rolling down mountainsides in tires with cousins. Her song “Mountain City” is an ode to this town and her precious memories in it.\n\n\n\nAnne graduated from UT Knoxville and Harvard. She spent her first 3 years in Nashville working in education policy\, building the Tennessee Promise college scholarship program with Governor Bill Haslam. In 2016\, she left that life behind to go on tour with The Chicks on their DCX MMXVI World Tour and has since shared the stage with the late Charlie Daniels\, toured with Augustana\, performed on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry\, and has become a regular at the world-famous Bluebird Cafe. She has performed at notable festivals including Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion and the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival. As a songwriter\, Anne has had her songs recorded by other artists\, notably American Idol’s David Archuleta and Lindy Boone\, daughter of legendary crooner Pat Boone. As a teaching artist\, Anne works with hundreds of school children annually to share her love for songwriting with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s nationally acclaimed programs at the Taylor Swift Education Center.\n\n\n\nLast summer\, Anne released an album on vinyl\, WILDWOOD\, as well as a children’s book\, Firefly\, based on her song of the same name. After Hurricane Helene\, Anne donated all October album sales to the Johnson County Community Foundation\, an amount that was matched by UT President Randy Boyd. In total\, they raised $2\,330 for hurricane relief. Likewise\, all album and ticket sales from this Anne Buckle & Friends benefit concert will be donated to the Johnson County Community Foundation.\n\n\n\nTickets:  $20 Adult • $10 Youth\nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:The Sound of Music
DESCRIPTION:The final collaboration between Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II\, The Sound of Music\, has become a play beloved around the world. Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers\, this play captures a personal tale of growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. The Sound of Music tells the tale of young postulant Maria Rainer\, whose free spirit has trouble fitting into the rules and regulations of Nonnberg Abbey. Commissioned by the Mother Abbess to serve as the governess for seven motherless children\, Maria transforms the Von Trapp family home from a place of dour rules and regulations to one filled with joy\, laughter\, and music. In the process\, Maria wins the hearts of all seven children–and their widower father\, Captain Von Trapp. With the Mother Abbess’ blessing\, and to the children’s delight\, Maria follows her heart\, and Maria and the Captain marry. Upon returning home from their honeymoon\, Maria and the Captain learn that their beloved Austria has been taken over by the Nazis\, and the retired Captain is asked to report for immediate service in the Nazi Navy. When the Nazis show up at their door to take Captain Von Trapp away\, it is a family singing engagement (wily navigated by their friend Max) that buys the family time to make their narrow escape. Their Austrian convictions compel Maria\, the Captain\, and the children to flee over the mountains of Switzerland to safety\, taking the words of Mother Abbess to heart: “Climb Every Mountain… till you find your dream.” \nMusic by Richard Rodgers \nLyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II \nBook by Howard Lindsey & Russel Crouse \n“The Sound of Music” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals\,\nsuggested by The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp \nPresented by Johnson County Community Theatre \nTicket Prices:  $15 in advance • $20 at the door • Youth $5 \nFor additional information or questions\, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our box office at 423-727-7444. \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Summer Series #1: Stonefire Band and Just Chuck
DESCRIPTION:Our Summer Series\, featuring local talent\, returns to Heritage Hall Theatre in 2024!  Our Summer Series #1 event for 2024 will feature the Stone Fire Band and Just Chuck. \nSTONEFIRE BAND\nThe Stonefire Band brings traditional country\, today’s country\, and classic rock music to the stage with its four-piece ensemble of talented local musicians Jason Gordon on drums\, lead guitarist Brian McLeery\, lead vocalist Mandy Leigh\, and bassist Steve Little. \nEach band member comes from a different background: \nMandy knew that she wanted to play and sing for people since she was in high school. She has performed in many musicals throughout the Tri-Cities area. \nJason fell in love with the drums while in the high school band.  He has gone on to play in several different bands in the Tri-Cities region. \nBrian was an all-state jazz guitarist for the state of Georgia in high school. He has been writing playing and performing around an active duty Army career in the Atlanta area since then and has recently moved to the Tri Cities area to do the same. \nSteve played in bands back in the ’60s but gave up music until he retired from the U.S. Army and the Post Office.  Steve has played in a few different bands in the area since 2020. \nJUST CHUCK\nCharles Skarsaune\, AKA Just Chuck\, has played guitar since he was a teenager in college and started playing in bands soon after.  Over time\, he realized that if he did all the singing and the guitar playing\, he wouldn’t have to deal with the cat herding necessary to keep a band together.  Hence\, “Just Chuck”. \nRaised a wanderer – North Dakota\, South America\, Michigan\, Georgia\, Kentucky\, and now Tennessee – he and his wife Jen put down roots ten years ago\, buying a small farm in Johnson County after visiting the mountains for decades.  He got his wandering genes from his father\, who moved to America from Norway as a teenager. \nFrom his parent’s record collections\, a steady diet of live concerts\, and the Columbia House Record (10 albums for a penny)\, a music fan his whole life\, he covers genres from rock to country to Motown to folk to bluegrass…..whatever he can carry off with one voice and one guitar. \nPerforming for people is the payoff – the most fun is when you can get people smiling\, dancing\, and singing along. \n\nCombined\, these two acts promise an evening of fun entertainment for our audience attending Summer Series #1! \nTicket Prices:  In Advance $10 | At the Door $12| Youth $5 \nSponsor:  The Tomahawk \nBUY TICKETS\nOnline ticket sales open on Saturday\, February 03\, 2024\, at 8:00 a.m. \nIf you have questions or want more information\, please contact our box office at 423-727-7444.
