“I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” is a heartwarming musical adventure for the whole family! It’s Christmas time at the Ypsilanti Zoo, and everyone there eagerly anticipates the birth of Bella, the zoo’s first baby hippo. The zoo is decorated for the holidays, and excitement fills the air. Seven-year-old Lois Jean, the zookeeper’s daughter, is especially excited. She hopes Bella will reunite her family in time for the holidays. Lois Jean’s parents have been busy with their work, and she wishes the baby hippo will bring them closer together again.
However, the unexpected happens. Bella’s birth doesn’t go as planned, and she needs urgent medical attention. The zoo staff works tirelessly to save her, but they realize they need a special ingredient for her treatment. Unfortunately, this ingredient can only be found in the North Pole. With time running out, Lois Jean writes a heartfelt letter to Santa, asking for his help.
Santa receives the letter and, touched by Lois Jean’s sincerity, decides to make a special trip to Ypsilanti Zoo. He rounds up his trusty reindeer and sets off on a thrilling journey. Along the way, Santa faces various challenges and encounters magical creatures, adding to the enchanting tale.
Will Santa arrive in time to save Bella—and Christmas? Join Lois Jean, her family, and the entire zoo community in this magical and inspiring musical. It celebrates the true spirit of Christmas: love, hope, and the power of believing in miracles. With catchy songs, colorful costumes, and delightful dance numbers, “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” is a joyous experience.
