The Glitter Girls is a delightful southern comedy by Mark Dunn, set in the fictional town of Hickman Hills, Georgia. The story revolves around an impromptu meeting of a women’s social club called “The Glitter Girls,” convened by its wealthiest member, Trudy Tromaine. Trudy, who is supposedly on her deathbed, has decided to bequeath a portion of her fortune to one lucky “Sister of the Gleam and Sparkle.” However, there’s a twist: the club members themselves must decide who among them will receive the money, with the hope that the chosen Glitter Girl will share her newfound wealth with the rest of the group.

As the women gather, old rivalries and secrets come to light, leading to a series of humorous and heartfelt moments. The characters, each with their unique quirks and backgrounds, navigate the complexities of friendship, loyalty, and greed. From the local “loose woman” Valerie Fairhope to the retired schoolteacher Mayvonne Rausch, the play showcases a rich tapestry of southern charm and humor. Trudy’s maid, Arpege Lacroix, adds an extra layer of comedy, disguising himself as a woman due to his run-ins with the law.
